How it all started:

In January 2020 Brano had serious accident that resulted in him developing PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). At the age of 56 he had to reconsider his professional career of Mechanical engineer. He always loved working with wood and natural materials, as a hobby. Perhaps it is in his blood, as his grand & great grand fathers have both been successful, well respected and sought after carpenters. Working with wood happened to be the best therapy and great tool to improve Brano’s post accident mental health. Very first things Brano crafted were weaving accessories for me. He really enjoyed process of making them and started to think what to do next. Idea of making proper, sturdy, heavy duty chopping board became very appealing and as he like a challenge and after some research on End Grain cutting/chopping boards, Brano designed his very first board. It took weeks to get it finished to his desired standard of high quality. You could say it was labor of love, but he was very pleased with the finished product. After that, other ideas came flooding and Wood Craft Studio BRANCO was born. Using his many years of experience working as Mechanical Engineer, precision, attention to detail and superb finishing touches mixed with artistic personality enable Brano to give old materials new lease of life and to be loved again.

After accident Brano required physical and psychological support and past 4.5 years has really been challenging. As well as working full time in Social Care sector I also became Brano’s full time unpaid career. But we pulled through it all somehow. I am very proud of Brano working so hard reinventing himself, finding job that he loves and that is bringing him a joy. I love going with him on the hunts for reclaimed materials and vintage accessories, our constructive discussions about finishing touches, his respect for my opinions and ideas and implementing them when they seem to fit with his. I am very happy to use my knowledge of quality fabrics, artistic flare and love for all things vintage, when advising Brano on “female touches” of his beautiful handcrafted, high quality products. My love and passion for finding “Vintage Treasures” will also have a place on our website and they will be available in our on-line shop. 

 Brano is using reclaimed materials to craft his products, as sustainability is so important these days and we, as a family are trying to do our best for the planet.

With Brano setting up Wood Craft Studio BRANCO we are aiming to turn our combined hobbies and interests into successful business. Business, that is offering variety of quality products suitable to any purse, home and style.
